Alpha Scientific is proud to announce that it has recently secured another project for the supply of some very unique and specialized ultra-fine particle measurement technology for vehicle DPM (diesel particulate measurements). For some years now, many companies have used OPC or photometer based measurement instruments for background ambient and or direct vehicle exhaust DPM measurements. While many of these devices have played their part and been useful to industry, most have been limited to measuring particles down to 500nm, 300nm or 100nm at best.
These carcinogenic diesel particulates unfortunately extend below 100nm in size where they become classified as ultra-fine particles. Ultra-fine particles have been linked to a wide range of health effects in humans over time and thus its highly desirable to measure them. While technology has existed to measure these tiny particles, its been prohibitively expensive and often not practical for your average company to purchase and use.
This is where Finland based Pegasor steps in with their unique and patented ultra-fine measurement solutions, designed for both ambient air and direct on vehicle exhaust measurements. In the case of this project, the Pegasor PPC was selected over a wide range of instruments available on the market. It was chosen for various reasons, primarily for being able to measure particles from 10nm to 1,000nm in size, along with LDSA, particle mass and median particle size.
