$0.00

The PALAS AQ Guard Smart 2000 is a new generation instrument designed to measure particle concentrations in the ultra-fine range down to 10nm in size which typically cannot be detected by optical aerosol photometers or spectrometers due to their small size, however have a significant impact on human health according to the World Health Organization. Currently, no legal regulations or limits have been established globally for ultra-fine particle concentrations however the world knows that exposure to these are potentially dangerous.

Description

The PALAS AQ Guard Smart 2000 is a new generation instrument designed to measure particle concentrations in the ultra-fine range down to 10nm in size which typically cannot be detected by optical aerosol photometers or spectrometers due to their small size, however have a significant impact on human health according to the World Health Organization. Currently, no legal regulations or limits have been established globally for ultra-fine particle concentrations however the world knows that exposure to these are potentially dangerous.

Mass (mg/m3) limits like PM2.5 and PM10 can generally be measured well with gravimetric methods and some real-time instruments, however smaller PM1 fractions of ultra-fine aerosols are difficult to estimate and can be evaluated meaningfully only by the determination of the particle concentration. In this case, expensive and maintenance-intensive condensation particle counters are usually used, which in combination with a size-classifying system (Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer) provides information about the particle size distribution and concentration.

The Palas AQ Guard Smart 2000 is a new generation instrument designed and optimized for ultra-fine particle measurements and this unit closes the gap between traditional condensation particle counters and optical particle instruments. This unit may be used for long-term measurements for the evaluation of number concentrations in outdoor areas and also for any indoor environments. The Palas AQ Guard Smart 2000 is also ideal for highly polluted environments such as airports, main roads and in many other areas.

What is Lung Deposited Surface Area ?

  • Lung deposited surface area (LDSA) concentration is a metric for the negative health effects of aerosol particles
  • It’s measured by multiplying the surface of a particle with the deposition probability in the lung
  • It uses the standardized particle deposition curves from the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP)
