Our staff were approached in 2021 to supply a solution to enable a leading Australian testing laboratory to test respiratory protective equipment to the latest ISO 16900 global standard. ISO 16900 was very specific and required the use of a sodium flame photometer or equivalent.
The sodium flame photometer was only part of the solution and special aerosol generation technologies also had to be incorporated into the mix and integrated with this system. Specialized aerosol generators from Palas GmbH were provided along with one of our SFP sodium flame photometer systems and this completed the solution for the customer.
This testing laboratory is currently very unique in Australia in its ability to test respiratory protective equipment to this ISO 16900 standard using sodium flame photometry, which is today closely linked to the Australian AS/NZS 1716:2012 standard.
