Australia’s largest hospital installs the latest Pharmagraph monitoring system technology. Alpha Scientific is proud to announce that it has recently completed another successful EMS (environmental monitoring system) upgrade project, this time for arguably Australia’s largest, best and most well-known public hospitals based in Sydney, Australia. The hospital treats more than 1,000 patients daily and is respected globally for pioneering complex medical solutions and cutting-edge healthcare technology.
The Project
Our client had a large existing GMP compliant particle & environmental monitoring system installed which was outdated and was failing in various areas. The system incorporated a dozen or so competitive particle sensors and over 100+ environmental sensors (room temperature, room humidity, room differential pressure, equipment temperature, CO2 incubator sensors, temperature sensors in nitrogen vessels, O2 sensors, audible / visual alarm lights, a large vacuum system, multiple computer servers, software and other equipment.
They needed either a new system installed or their existing system seriously upgraded to fix problems and ensure GMP compliance ongoing. Various EMS system suppliers were consulted, even the original system provider however Alpha Scientific was ultimately selected to provide a cutting-edge solution which upgraded their facility, saved them considerable money and provided them with much greater flexibility than other systems on the market.
The Solution
Post a site inspection and other after considerable discussions to establish a scope of works, the client accepted our proposal and our team got to work. All of the existing I/O hardware was removed and replaced with latest generation Pharmagraph I/O technology, any faulty sensors were replaced and calibrated, the servers were replaced and new Pharmagraph software was installed. Everything was wired into the new system, carefully tested, fully validated and handed over to our client with training provided.
Our customer is now in a much better position and is currently planning to expand their system. Unlike many competitive monitoring systems on the market, their new Pharmagraph system is now unlocked. They can use numerous different brands of particle counters available on the market and even mix and match brands if they so choose. This flexibility is not available on many competitive systems which are highly proprietary and locked into those vendors.
Our customer can integrate any environmental sensors on the market, along with countless other pieces of equipment and devices providing them with unmatched flexibility. The customer now has their own dedicated project manager ongoing, lower cost and local calibration options and the full ongoing support of our system integration partners, Alpha Scientific & U.K based Pharmagraph.
In Summary
While many suppliers would have pushed the customer to replace the system including the particle counters and potentially other sensors in order to work on their proprietary platforms, at Alpha Scientific, our objective from day 1 was to save the customer money and salvage (use) whatever sensors and parts of the existing system we could as part of the upgrade. This saved the customer hundreds of thousands of dollars.
As their particle and environmental sensors fail in the future the customer can now decide which particle sensors, they prefer to use without being locked into any one vendor. They can shop around, negotiate the best purchase pricing, ongoing calibration costs and so on, knowing they have that flexibility.
